Internet will only connect to Facebook or Google

Hi there


Last couple of days I have noticed my internet connection on my macbook (Mac OS Sierra 10.12.6) has become really slow and eventually stops working on both Firefox and Safari when searching except for loading both google or Facebook.


If I shutdown my Macbook and restart then Firefox starts working again. The wifi works fine on my Iphone and my Son's Macbook but has this problem on mine. I am still getting emails fine but just my search engines both seem to stop working - possibly after going into sleep mode.


Any help much appreciated

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked. Also try the Safe Mode. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Safe Mode - About


If it works in the Safe Mode, try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin

Not had a chance to do safe mode yet as I had to reboot to look at these messages. I am waiting for it to sleep to see if the problem re occurs.


Not sure what you mean by proxy or VPN. I have BT Virus which is supplied by my internet service provider and Sophos running as well if that is what you mean? These are the only things which appear open along the top bar
