Internet will only connect to Facebook or Google

Not had a chance to do safe mode yet as I had to reboot to look at these messages. I am waiting for it to sleep to see if the problem re occurs.

Not sure what you mean by proxy or VPN. I have BT Virus which is supplied by my internet service provider and Sophos running as well if that is what you mean? These are the only things which appear open along the top bar

My mac is running slowly so did wonder if they were of any benefit (doubt they are the only reason as there is something called Kernal_task that always appear top of the activity monitor) but I presumed they were there to protect my laptop?

I have uninstalled both Mcafee virus protect and Sophos. However I also use Ghostery and Alexa traffic rank on Firefox but I presume these apps are only in use when I open and am using firefox? Neither app is on Safari so don't imagine they are part of the original problem
