Apple Hardware Test not working....

Hi,

06’ Intel iMac (Still going) and I thought I’d run this hardware test. It’s a waste of time really because the computer is about done but the fact that it’s not working, is annoying me.

Got Ethernet & Wired keyboard plugged in. Nothing else.

Holding down ‘d’ itself and with cmd and option. Nothing!

I thought i’d used the install disc for this but when I tried it says it’s for a PowerPC which this is not.

I’ve used discs many times for new installs and they worked fine.

Maybe I used option ‘d’.

HDD has been replaced twice so no test on there.

Onto Apple which no longer (funnily enough) supports this system.

Onto some sites looking to download test and found one through Stack Exchange but how do I get a disc image on desktop to be a working test?

It’s annoying as ****.

Everything crashes now on my Mac.

Hi James

The Apple Hardware Test for an Early 2006 Intel Core Duo iMac is on disc #2 of the original Tiger 10.4 disc set.

FWIW I'm not sure why I've kept them for so long, but I still have 2 Early 2006 disc sets, a $129 Leopard Upgrade DVD and 2 $20 Snow Leopard Upgrade DVDs. Great machine's in there heyday, but sadly I recycled the last one over 4 years ago.
