how can stop mac mail app from loading at start up???

I now have to use outlook for e-mails. How can I stop mac mail app from loading at start up (I changed the mail pref to outlook and tried unclicking "open at login" and remove from dock, but won't work)?

Apple Mail will not go away Operational details: Mac OS Big Sur 11.1, circa 2015 iMac I use Microsoft Outlook for Mac, not Apple Mail. To hide Apple Mail, I have tried checking "Remove from Dock" and unchecking "Open at Login." Both appear to be no-ops, because not only do they not work, if I go back and look, they have been reset. By dragging the icon off the dock, I can make it go away temporarily, but when I restart my computer, there it is again. As noted, my OS is up to date, but this problem predates the current version. Questions: How do I permanently keep Mail off the dock and prevent it from starting at login? Is there any harm in removing Mail entirely? Is it even possible?

Macbook M1 does not bring up existing mail window when I click on Mail app For years, I have used Apple Mail. When I minimized a Mail window, and later clicked on the Mail menu icon, the window popped back up. Now I have a new M1 macbook, and clicking on the Mail app in the toolbar does nothing to bring the window back up. What is going on? Is this just a plan to get me to move my mail to Outlook?

Please read Open items automatically when you log in on Mac - Apple Support.

Excerpt:

Remove a login item: Select the name of the item you want to prevent from opening automatically, then click the Remove button — below the list.
