Cannot reset old iPad with old Apple ID

Hi, I have an old iPad that I am trying to restart and activate. I am stuck at the Apple ID Activation Lock. the Apple ID is very old and not one I use anymore, and it is saying that it cannot be used to activate the iPad even after I reset the password. Can you help me activate my iPad please?
