Does the Files app use my phone storage?? I uploaded lots of pics and vids to Files as my phone was getting low on storage. But since I done this I now have less storage than before! I thought they were stored on iCloud Drive...I pay for the 2TB option each month, so what’s going on??

The Files app stores documents directly on the device if you use the On My iPad or on My iPhone locations and it also stores the files that are in iCloud on the device. iCloud is not and never has been archival, off the device storage. iCloud syncs your files and data across devices and gives you access to all of those files on all devices that are using iCloud.
If you have lots of files and photos using that syncing space in iCloud, you will still need the appropriate amount storage space in iCloud and also on your device.
