Does the Apple Airport Express special Software ?

The Apple Airport Express works very stable

  • It is not possible to buy one anymore.

Problem : other brands work very unstable.

Is it only the configuration, or did Apple use a different software ?

The Fritzbox is a DSL wireless gateway. If you are getting DSL service, then you don't need another modem. The Fritzbox would be connected directly to the DSL wall port. In turn, the PCs would connect to the Fritzbox by wireless. Sorry, but I don't know what Handys are, but I am assuming that they will connect by wireless as well.

Now what do you want to do with the AirPort Express?

Thanks for the quick answer.

At the Moment I have available

a FritzBox 7590

with the standard configuration.

what I did was only :

  • I fix my devices, that hopefully nobody enters my network.

  • For my Family is E-Mail and Internet

news and YouTube important,

  • I need the Network for Internet Access over

TeamViewer or AnyDesk, Printer and

sensors to other PCs.

I tried also the Client Mode on the Fritz.Box

but the Problem there is, that the Speed

on the Online Monitor went up and down,

same as Router Mode, but

with the Airport it is very stable.

that is why I am wondering.

or may be I am totally wrong, in Germany I use a Cisco Modem/Router but without WiFi

that works like the Airport Express.

but I must say i did not change so much,

only my IP address for the Network.

Hardware: iPhone 7 Plus, iPhone XS, Alienware Laptop, MacBook Air, and Workstation

MSI x399 with Threadripper...

Oh sorry i forget the Modem :

  • KT GIGA UPT

I am in Korea and not able to read the letters.

I would like to connect the PCs and Handys wireless to the KT GIGA UPT Modem

The Fritzbox looks on the Online Monitor for the Network like stop and go,

and i can not acces PC's remotley well.

The Airport is may be not so fast, but very stable.

Or do I have to disconnect the KT GIGA UPT Modem

and connect the Fritzbox directly,

or do I need another Router?

If you know a better device which is adjustable

I am open for all and like to learn.

Thanks for you help so far

for all

Nothing i am very happy with the AirportExpress

Info:

(Handys are iPhone 7plus, and iPhone XS

PC's as Laptop : MacBook Air, Alienware, LG Gram

as Desktop: MSI threadripper Wokstation

OS: Windows XP, 7,10, Linux Arch/Debian, Apple )

Thank you for the gateway Information.

I connect now the Fritzbox direct without a Modem

We have here optical wire inside the Appartement.

What I did :

  • I took a MC2010CS Media Converter from TP Link
  • to connect the Fritzbox with the optical wire
  • I use it now as a Router, not as a Client

this speed up now the old network speed stable x 10

Thanks a lot for the perfect help :)

When you say other brands are unstable .. what brands have you tested and in what configuration??

In my experience with loads of routers you get what you pay for. If you buy cheap end stuff you do tend to get fairly low end products which tend to have little if any firmware updates or testing with multiple network configurations that are in use.

Apple designed their routers specifically to the needs and to match wireless systems and protocols used on apple devices. One in particular; namely bonjour; is most important and all the apple routers include bonjour sleep proxy (Apple TV is the other). This is not available in other routers due to its Apple exclusivity.

However since Apple no longer make routers of any sort they are more and more moving to typical windows networking protocol and setup. Some of this is still in transit so there can be issues.. but we can help you more with specifics since Apple has left the building.. and other devices now must be used. Tell us what actual problems you have and what hardware you are using.
