I am trying to remove a name from a group text. When I swipe left, it takes me to the persons contact info. It does not give me option to remove. What am I doing wrong or what do I do next?

This is a user to user support forum and Apple does not participate here. So you will not hear from the "brightest bulbs" as you phrase it. We are all users, somewhat like yourself. If you left feedback for Apple, it will be read and shared with the relevant section, but as indicated in the area that you left the feedback at, it will not be individually responded to. Requests for change are never immediate, they are prioritized and updates are done in iOS updates. You may not see it in the next one, depending again on priorities. If you don't see it right away, you can share your disappointment with Apple again, on the feedback page.

Gave feedback. No response. Issue still there as of today. Keep hoping one of the 'frequent' updates will address it. Seems like a simple enough thing. DELETE GROUP botton.

And you will most likely never get a response. The Feedback page is quite clear on that matter. Also, just because you ask for something doesn't mean Apple is obligated to give it to you.

People who aren't software engineers always think that any change is simple. But, that fails to take into account that everything is interlinked.

This worked prior to the 13.0 release.
I’ve looked for a fix in every subsequent release to no avail.
Hopefully 14.0 will address the issue again, there seems like a lot of interest in the subject.
Sometimes I have to scroll through 2-3 Pages to find the contact to message.

And we don't know what caused Apple to make the change. It's possible that there was a good reason for it, that something in iOS 13 necessitated it. Or not. We don't know.

The work around that has been suggested is to put a period at the end of the name when you type it in.

It appears this is fixed in the IOS 13.4 release.

Messages still displays group text lists in which the contact appears but only if there is an active thread with the contacts name. Before the fix any/all groups still appeared even if there were NO open threads at all.

looks like Apple had to clear/flush some orphaned table in the DB. Also now the table of groups is kept in sync with the open threads.

Good job Apple!😀

That's a completely different issue. Apple doesn't read here for suggestions. Use the feedback link provided above to let them know your thoughts on this matter.

I don’t think that’s quite right, Previously I could not remove a name or the entire group from iMessage whether members of the group were all iMessage or SMS.

Since I installed 13.4 when I send a text to a contact I knew was (previously) in multiple groups he only appears once unless he was still in an active group. Also, once I delete the active group message(s) then The contact appeareS only once......

This is somewhat confusing, eh?

I Believe the issue has been fixed, if you can describe an instance where it’s still broken tell me and I’ll try it.

You are correct, I was talking about the suggestions when you type a new iMessage.

That is what I believe was fixed in 13.4. Prior to that of group message Names would be suggested wether there was an active thread or not.......It appeared that all groups were archived but never cleaned up or synced behind the scenes.

All is well for me now. I don’t know about editing individual groups
