Ah. That's 99% likely to be a malware issue. Run MalwareBytes from https://www.malwarebytes.com and see if that helps.

and yes, it did it with chrome as well.

Your original fix, setting the security to "strict", worked for me. Am hoping this works and doesn't come back. Monitoring this thread.
