imovie & idvd replacement

Can anyone recommend a simple, intuitive replacement for iMovie & iDVD? It's finally failing on my desktop. THX Bob

What I've done is get an external SSD drive with a USB 3 to SATA adaptor and install High Sierra on it.

The adaptor is only $7 @ Amazon and with a MacSales.com 250 GB SSD $45 or 500 GB SSD ($75) it's quite reasonable. Boot times for me is comparable to what my internal SSD boots at (~ 50 seconds w/5 EHDs mounting at boot time). It will run iDVD, iPhoto 9.6.1, iWeb 3.0.4 and iMovie 6 HD (lower right hand corner of page) very nicely as well as any other 32 bit app you might need later on.

l have one for High Sierra and one for Catalina. When Catalina is officially released I'll cone my curren Mojave boot drive to the Catalina drive and then upgrade to Catalina. As long as I don't upgrade my iMac to one that won't run High Sierra I'm in good position.
