"confirm your file download location" upon right click in safari

hey,

I'm having a problem in safari ever since I updated to Mojave; on some webpages when I right click to open a new tab, a window with "confirm your file download location" appears. this also happens when I try to opens safari preferences.

I have restarted the computer but it does not help. what can I do to make this go away?

Hello tigerlili22,

Thanks for reaching out to the Apple Support Communities. From you message I can see that you’re having some issues with what’s occurring in Safari when you go to open Preferences or when right-clicking to select “Open Link in New Tab.” Great thinking restarting your Mac. Next, quit Safari by using Command + Q or by using the menu bar. Once it’s fully closed, hold down the shift key on the left side of the keyboard while you click on the Safari icon. Once the icon begins to bounce, release the shift key. See if you can go to Preferences, and what happens when you try to open a link in a new tab.

Cheers!
