is it possible to view a readme version of an old recovered itunes library file.

So a few years ago I managed to wipe my laptop completely, losing thousands of songs in the process. I gave my laptop to a shop who managed to recover alot of photo's and files, but the music was too corrupted to recover. I did however manage to recover the itunes library file. I know this will not get me my music back, as most of the music was not purchased through itunes anyway.

What I wondering, is whether there is a way that somebody, or even myself, is able to view a list of all the readable list of all the songs I had in my library using this file, and from that I would be able to start to rebuild my once blooming iTunes!

I can't find anything about this anywhere on the internet. Any help will be much appreciated!

Thanks, Max

Do you have the iTunes Library.itl file or the iTunes (Music) Library.xml. The former can be opened by shift-starting iTunes and browsing to it to see what iTunes shows. Obviously the media won't play, but you can refresh your memory of what the library contained. The other is a structured text file which has the same information but will be harder to read through. In either case it might be possible to extract some summary information if you know what it is that you want to find.
