Yahoo search engine virus

I have some kind of a worm that keeps redirecting my internet searches from my chosen engine to the yahoo search engine. I can stop it for awhile but it always returns eventually. I use a MacBook pro with OS 10.3.6 Can't find this addressed in a way that has resolved it in general on-line search (now limited to a yahoo search of course)! Help!

Download and run Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes was developed by one of our own colleagues here in ASC and is about the most proven anti-malware software for Mac. All you need is the free version.

After that restart your ac and then go to Safari > Preferences > Search and choose the search engine you want.

I had the same problem and was frustrated just like everyone else.

I went to my System Preference and look for, an icon that looks like a bottle cap and a check mark in it., Called Profiles.

Delete the items in there and that worm goes away.

I have had it come back up but i do the same thing and it goes away again.

I have also switched to Google chrome and left Safari.

Hope this helps everyone.

I am not a poster but this was such a relief to figure out. I wanted to share this in this forum.

Dear Apple team,

Actually I have a probleme of search engine that always changes to yahoo. I have read the results and fixed that as Apple team suggested some one to download Malwarebytes. I did and after restarted my MacBook Pro with Mac OS sierras. I can’t even use or search or connect to server. It shown “safari can’t connect to the server.

Before download that application I download google chrome but I can’t even open it because Unarchiver. I might delete some files. Was the problem of Unarchiver?

Please help me I can’t use my MacBook Pro. Now I use iPad to write questions.

Thanks and regards,
