Apple CarPlay sets the route to a suggested destination automatically. User has to stop navigation to get back to normal maps!

I'm seeing something really silly on CarPlay. If I get into the car at certain times the maps realises where I might want to be going based on my history but instead of simply suggesting some locations and allowing me to select them to kickstart the navigation like on Android Auto....CarPlay actually sets the navigation route automatically and it just stays on that screen forever. If i want to just get back to to the normal maps i have to tap the screen a few times to get back to normal maps.

Here's an example. I get into my car at the end of the work day and connect my iPhone. Maps recognises i might want to go home but I don't...i'm off to dinner somewhere else after work. CarPlay sets the route to my home and stays on that screen until I reject it and go back to maps.

I don't want it to do this. Why is CarPlay forcing me to select one thing or the other...this isn't helpful in any way whatsoever. I just want the car to stay in normal 'driving mode' without it pre-setting the route in advance. And if it's going to pre-set the route it should auto cancel and go back to driving mode if i don't interact with it! Is there a setting somewhere to turn this off?

As I said before Android Auto does this better. It recognises where you might want to go based on your history and simple suggests some locations and if you dont tap the locations it just stays on the normal maps.
