MacBook Pro keeps crashing randomly every few days

MacBook Pro (13-inch, Mid 2012)

Yosemite 10.10.5 (14F27)

If there's any other info, lemme know, but yeah.. I don't know what's

going on, it's been happening for the past month or two, and I haven't

been able to go to the Apple store, as it's too far away, but my Mac

keeps crashing randomly every couple of days, and I know that can't be

good. Something else I've noticed is that the bottom of the screen,

where the keyboard and screen meet, gets -way- hotter than it used to,

especially when something intensive is happening on screen, like

watching a movie.

Any ideas on what I should do to identify and fix the issue?

Hello,

Your Mac Book Pro is eligible for upgrade to macOS Mojave, but is running on Yosemite.

As a first step, I recommend updating the macOS:

-> considering the OS version on the computer, please go to Apple Menu-> System Preferences -> Users and groups -> Login items -> remove all the login items by selecting them individually and tap on the minus

-> Take a Time Machine backup using the following article: https://support.apple.com/en-nz/HT201250

-> Upgrade your macOS after completing the backup using the following article: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201475

After the update, if the device is still overheating, follow these steps: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201295; https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT204063
