keep hearing aids connected to phone when using carplay

Hi all

I don’t know if anyone can help but I have phonak hearing aids connected to my iPhone 8 and set to always use hearing aids but when I connect to CarPlay I don’t get navigation directions to my aids it comes from car speakers even though I have whatever map app I am using set to play directions as Bluetooth phone call, if anyone has any suggestions on how I can force map apps or phone to keep using hearing aids would be much appreciated.

Volume controls in Apple Maps while using CarPlay with iOS 16 Before iOS 16, under Settings / Maps, there was a Navigation & Guidance control, which allowed you to adjust the volume of the CarPlay Apple Maps voice. I can’t find these controls in iOS 16. I’m trying to figure out why I can hear Apple Maps instructions from my iPhone 14 Pro (iOS 16.01) in our 2020 Prius Prime via CarPlay, but my wife’s iPhone 13 Pro (iOS 16) has no audible instructions when she uses her phone with CarPlay. The navigation display does connects to her phone via CarPlay and Apple Maps does display on the car’s display, there just aren’t any auditory instructions. There is no firmware/software update available for the navigations system on a Prius Prime 2020.

Bluetooth Prioritization I have multiple devices Bluetooth devices connected to my iPhone. I recently obtained hearing aids that are connected through my iPhone meaning they can stream my phone calls and music through the hearing device to provide a better hearing opportunity for me. I have also synced my phone with my vehicle, via UConnect. To get better music quality, I often plug my phone into the vehicle, and on some occasions listen to music through the Bluetooth software through the car. After getting my hearing aids, there are times throughout my travels that my phone will randomly sync to my hearing aids instead of just staying in the car. This becomes an issue since we are required to be hands free, hence the Bluetooth application. Is there a way to prioritize Bluetooth devices on an iPhone? Is there a way to prioritize Bluetooth audio devices in the order in which I want them to play, like if I am listening to music on my phone through my vehicle, that it stay there and not switch to my hearing aids? Any help or ideas you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
