Using an HTTPS proxy on iPhone

I have a proxy server at an address like https://user:pass@proxy.example.com:8443

I want to set my phone to proxy everything with this proxy. When I enter https://proxy.example.com in server, 8443 in port, user in username, and pass in password, it fails to connect.

What is the correct way to set up a HTTPS proxy (not just a proxy for https traffic, a proxy server where client to proxy is encrypted) on an iPhone?

iPhone 8 forgets Global HTTP Proxy settings Hey guys. I've applied Global HTTP Proxy settings to both of my kids iPhones using Apple Configurator. I have also done the same to thier iPads. On the whole, this has worked really well but there seems to be a problem with the iPhone 8 which is running iOS 16.2. What appears to be happening is that after a period of time the iPhone seems to forget the proxy settings. Looking at the proxy (squid) logs the requests no longer come through as an authenticated users. Rebooting the iPhone solves this. I have to confess to duplicating the mobileconfig files and simply changing the relevant values, which has meant that the UUID's for the Payloads are identical across the 4 devices, the other 3 devices seem to hold the proxy config indefinitely though...????

Proxy password My phone (iPhone 8) randomly started asking me for a proxy password. Along with this came other issues. My search engines don’t work and other random apps (Amazon, Home Depot, etc) won’t work. My proxy is turned off so I don’t understand why I have this issue

Proxy keeps reverting to None When entering our proxy server, it reverts to None after saving changes. This works on our older iOS devices but not on our 6th gen ipad with iOS 13.5. It doesn't matter whether I use the DNS name or the IP address. Again, either works on other devices. I upgraded from iOS 13.4 to 13.5 and consequently rebooted. No change. The proxy address is entered manually. We don't use PAC.
