Can I Use iMac as External Monitor for Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon?

Hi everyone,

I consider buying Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (7 gen) and I wonder, if I do so, whether I'd be able to use my late-2013 21.5'' iMac as an external monitor for the laptop. There're lots of confusing posts on the internet as to how Target Display Mode works with PCs, even with those equipped with Thunderbolt technology.

Anybody having successful experience, please, share which X1-to-iMac setup worked well or, perhaps, any other proven non-Apple laptop-to-iMac connection settings.
