Cannot find music symbols in Microsoft Word

Okay... I have seen different forums for this question. The problem is the answers and steps given look different in my macbook pro.

I'm going to attach some pictures to show you what I mean. The first 3 pictures are the answers given in the forum;

The next 2 pictures is what looks like on my laptop - nothing like what it's shown.

  1. (mac forum pic 1) - they said: click on Insert - click on symbol
  2. (mac forum pic 2) completely different window
  3. (mac forum pic 3) completely different window
  4. (my mac - pic 1) When I click on insert - there's only "advanced symbols" on the bottom
  5. (my mac - pic 2) when I click on that - it just opens the same old box that does not have musical symbols available. There's every alphabet on earth (and possible other planets), but no stinking music symbols!

Here's the forum I'm referring to:

So... what to do?

Do i need to download some kind of special font or symbol package?

Thank you for your help. Please help!

The best place to ask about Word stuff is in the MS forums devoted entirely to it:

An alternative to Words symbol input is Apple's. Open Character Viewer, go to the gear wheel at top left, click on Customize, and check the box for Musical Symbols.
