I can get to itunes but Each time I try to get to my account, I get a message that tells me the Apple ID has been disabled for security reasons. They give no redirection to remedy this. Any thoughts?
Same problem here. I'm from Spain.
Since today, every time I try to get to my account, the same message "Tu Apple ID ha sido desactivado" (Your Apple ID has been disabled).
The card I used for payment was recently used for fraudulent charges and subsequently cancelled, so I thought that was the problem. I logged into my account via iTunes, changed the payment info to a valid card, yet it's still telling me that my account is disabled.
Same problem here in Canada, nor sure how long it's been but at less a week since I downloaded anything. Contacted support and all they ask me was for my billing address and last 4 numbers of credit card, then they got back to me telling me that they were escalating the case to someone else. They haven't told me why it's disabled.
I'm having the same issue. I don't use a Discover card for iTunes, but I did use the Discover card to purchase my Mac from the Apple store. On 1/1/11 that card was used for a iTunes purchase and the DS account was cancelled. I've been emailing with Apple support for this issue since 2/3 and they said 2 days ago that Apple was working to fix this issue. I just realized tonight there are a whole lot of us having this issue. Someone should bring this to the media's attention. I think Apple has a security breach they are keeping under wraps. Yep, I can log into my account, see all of my settings... but I can't purchase anything on iTunes and I can't get any free apps. Frustrating.
Same problem since around Saturday Feb 5th. Emailed apple support, and someone named Sudheesh replied 24 hours later telling me he is "checking into the problem" and will "email me back once he gets more information". That was 36 hours ago. Very frustrating
I wrote to support and was asked the billing address and the last four digits, but my account was working before I answered. I think there was a problem that has been fixed, probably some accounts were incorrectly disabled and they have now rolled back the change.
Good luck to everyone who's still disabled
yes, I'm now working again - I think someone messed up at Apple - had an email from support saying they will look into it and that was it - no follow up (yet)
Check your purchases lists - have just hit the Apple ID Disabled problem, could still log in to the account without issue but changed password anyway through iforget.
However when I checked purchases someone had managed to get £175.00 of fraudulent transactions through on 24th Jan.
Now waiting for reply from Apple... who dont seem to have a fraud department to talk to..
yeah, when the fraud happended on my account, someone had purchased $99.99 on iTunes using my DS. DS isn't even my iTunes card; however, it was my Apple store card used in Dec. to purchase my laptop!! They definitely need a fraud department. I think this is bigger than just a few users and they want to keep it under wraps.
Finally got an email the gist of it is this "It appears that during our maintenance the other day, your account was disabled. You can be assured, the issue has been resolved and you are now able to sign into your account"
so hang in there, worth contacting support and waiting
