I have an old phone that I removed from my icloud in an attempt to reset it because I forgot my passcode. What do I do?

The phone says iPhone is d is disabled connect to ITUNES. I did that and nothing happened.

Did your computer's iTunes recognise it when you connected it : If you forgot the passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support ?
