Apple Card regularly declined for suspected fraud

I've had the Apple Card for less than a month now and its been declined for suspected fraud a number of times. Twice, the app sent me a message that it detected fraud and asked me to confirm the transaction. I confirmed the transaction in the app, waited a few minutes and had the merchant try again, but no go.

It even failed ordering the new iPhone last week - how does that happen? I had to call support and get transferred to a second level support person to get the transaction to go through. Messaging support through the app got zero response.

All the other times (probably 4-5) there was no message or indication in the app, just a declined transaction. None of the transactions were anywhere near the limit and I'm still less than 5% utilization. When I switch to another card it goes through immediately. I'm venting now because I just saw that this caused me a late fee when my phone bill didn't go through this month when I paid it via the Apple Card.

Has anyone else had problems with their card getting declined for suspected fraud?

What's the point of this card if it doesn't work? These have all been online transactions, I'm in the US, and I'm not on a VPN or using any non-standard browsers. I haven't tried using the physical card anywhere yet because I just don't know if it'll get denied or not.
