Greyed out Apple ID

Why is my Apple ID greyed out and does anyone know a fix to this problem?

Have you checked Settings/Screen Time for any restrictions?


Try a restart.


Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch


Try a forced restart.

@dbfocus I think I found the reason that it is greyed out. I just fixed mines after I posted my original message.


  • I went to my email and noticed that I had an unopened email that I missed from Apple Support entitled (subject line) "Billing Problem".
  • There was a message advising me of a billing problem with an app that was set to renew yearly and had come up for renewal.
  • There is a blue button that says "Fix (Whatever credit card you have on file)"
  • I clicked on it and resolved the payment issue and immediately I was able to see that my Apple ID was blue and clickable again.


This is the fix for my account and I hope it is the fix that you need as well. Best wishes to you.
