I noticed when I delete an event on my computer (that I was previously invited to), the iphone event only shows a line-through but does not actually delete.
It is deleted on the desktop but it cannot be deleted from the phone (again...just a line-through).

You may may avoid seeing these by changing:
Settings > Calendar > Show Invitee Declines = “Off”.
The inviter will see that you have declined attending. But it’s up to the inviter to remove the event.
These events are shared with at least one other person. Perhaps someone else invited you, for example. The other person “owns” the event, so you cannot delete it.
Yes...I was invited. That is crazy to not be able to delete and event on your own device.
