iPhone X swipe up not working after iOS 13 update

I just updated to iOS 13 this morning and then my 'swipe up' gesture is not working anymore. I can go pass the lock screen but when I'm using an app I can't 'swipe up'. It only scrolls. Any ideas how to fix it?

I thought I had this problem after migrating to IOS13. I could not swipe up, but found out through trial and error that if I swiped up and just held my thumb/finger in the center for a second, the app would pop up in the center for dismissal/closure. I turned off "Reduce Motion" under Settings and behavior is normal again. When I swipe up, the app appears and slides up to center for action. YMMV

Over 100+ people have this issue, did anyone go to the Apple store to have them assist with a fix? This defeats the purpose of having an iPhone X.

I did have my screen replaced with an aftermarket screen but swipe up works unlocking the phone so I am assuming it’s a software issue, plus had zero issues on iOS 12. Please find a fix for this! Beyond frustrated.

Just wondering: out of the 204 people that clicked "I have the question too":

-how many actualy read the discussion?

-How many bothered to visit their 3rd party screen supplier to have their replacement screen updated with correct firmware.

-Hi Apple: I may seem to have a cause and fix for thousands of angry users, but hey, seem you do not read your own discussions. Not even a sign of life or remark you may look into this.


I am very dissapointed: this forum seems just for letting off steam. People seem to think apple reads it.

They dont: seem they just wan to sell new phones and new screens in their shops.


This is my last post in the forum. It's a waste of time.

Bought phone from CeX, multi store UK company, asked the question in local store this morning as why phone not responding properly after update, they replied "phone fully tested to our stringent procedures and found to be performing well so in there opinion its a genuine screen". They could find no fix and suggested restore phone through iTunes which I have tried multiple times today but fault still there. My geek son in law, who also has a 10X, told me before update, he considered my phone to be responding better on touch and swipe than his new purchased item from 18 months ago. He has no problem since 13.1.2 update.

CeX have offered full refund but it would very inconveniently to be left without phone for some time and would need more time to set up another phone again. Very frustrating for a 72 yr old. Speedy fix required please.
