Hello,

This is not Apple’s doing. The application’s publisher is the one who makes the decision to release or pull their application from the App Store or any other application market. The only thing you can do at this point is to email their support.

At least one Google discussion thread mentioned that it may have nothing to do with privacy per se, but did/does have to do with the app violating copyright for published recipes. Not sure how copyright law applies to that app and the recipe content people store with it, but if there is a potential legal issue with illegal use of copyright material, I can see why a retailer/distributor would pull the app (especially one that vigorously protects its own copyright material).

APPLE - please just add this app back to your store. It's hurting no one. It's simply stores recipes in an organized way - this is a feature that many of the recipe apps perform. Apple is not reading here for suggestions. If you want to let them know your thoughts, the correct place is the feedback page:

It is possible something happened to the app developer, too!

If this is a one person or small group developer, maybe employees left, the owner has gotten ill with something serious.

Maybe the developer of the app wasn't making any money, the company/developer went bankrupt, got tired of working on the app and having to work all the time to keep it updated.

Maybe the app developer just created and supported the app part-time and just got tired of working on it and abandoned the app.

This happens all the time in the software/application world.

Software gets abandoned or “orphaned” by the developers of the software.

Lots of reason why apps can and DO disappear from the iOS App Store all the time.

Users pay for the use of the software. Users never actually own the software and its code.

Also, if an app has not been updated in 4-5 years, Apple DOES, actually, removes those kinds of apps from the App Store.

If an app has not been updated in a long time, it will NOT work with newer 64-bit iDevices and 64-bit coded iOS versions, anyways.

Yes Apple is not being honest after an extensive chat session Apple told me the app was in violation and therefore removed end of story. That is not what the developer says. I want it back as well. It’s my favorite app.

So you don’t believe Apple but you believe the developer just because you want the developer to be right? The fact that it was pulled from Google Play as well makes me think the developer may be the one not quite giving an honest portrayal of what transpired. As far as I can gather from online information, both stores pulled it for, in their minds, violating user privacy rights.

Apple certainly takes those sorts of violations of their requirements for Apps very seriously.

Apple, please bring back this app! The publisher claims that Apple removed the app due to concerns about copyright violations. The app does not appear to violate copyright in my opinion as they always reference back to the original recipe site and gives ownership to the creator. It is really a place to store recipes that have been collected by the user. They are not republishing the recipe or taking credit in any way. This is not unlike several other recipe storage apps (Paprika, Cook'n, Pepperplate...). I believe that Apple has jumped the gun on this one and I hope that it is restored quickly as it is probably one of my top 5 most used apps.

I used this app all the time. In fact Google Play has added it BACK to their store...which means if I decide to buy a Samsung I would have that app back.

In the meantime I have stopped using Safari and started using Google Chrome. This search engine will at least let you use Copy Me That through the browser.

Hi. Ok, I see that many people have the same problem with the application. Well, I was copymethat.com online. I found all my recipes.

And yet the same App was removed from the Google Play Store? Does that not tell you something? I would suggest if the App had been bad enough to be removed from the Google Play Store, it would have had to be a serious, very serious breach of the conditions required for an App.

I suppose I was hoping that an Apple rep might observe these responses in some way. No harm done in expressing my opinion here, I hope. As I stated, I believe that the app is not unlike many other apps that they do support and does not conflict with their rules and guidelines. The developers have put out info as to why it was taken down, and I believe their information to be accurate and appropriate. It is up to Apple to decide, but I'm hoping feedback will encourage them to more thoroughly review the app. I have expressed my views directly in their app feedback form as well. I am NOT asking Apple to change their policies, just to review an app that seems to have been removed without fully understanding the details. Thank you so much for your time and your reply.
