This is driving me insane, the screen rergusters my touch....but wont swipe u to force close an app. So once im in any app to be able to get out of it i have to force turn off my phone....what the **** do i do? this is after the ios 13 update
Argh, sorry to hear your going through the same thing..but it’s comforting to know I’m not the only one 😬 I spent hours with apple support online...doing updates through iTunes etc nothing worked. Apple told me to go to an Apple store and get them to run a diagnostics test...that it’s a hardware problem possibly! It’s bullshit my phone worked perfectly fine before this...I can unlock my phone..just can’t close or switch apps! So I decided to do a full restore and just deal with having to wait for everything to upload again from a backup..and guess what..still didn’t fuckjng work! The interim solution is to add the “home button” it’s a pain in the ***, but it’s a solution for now!! Surely we can’t be the only two people on the planet having identical issues!! Hope you haven’t ur phone yet...I was close

This is sick it’s been a week and they are not taking any serious action. Even after upgrading to ios 13.1 on my X it won’t work. Please take immediate action for all apple users rather than making new by promoting you new iphone

@rbrylawski This isn’t an issue of not knowing how to switch between apps. Many of us are having the same problem.

The version is in beta so there are a few potential problems still with the version. You can sign up to the beta programme here https://beta.apple.com/sp/betaprogram/. There are instructions on what then to do on the page. They’ll be releasing 13.2 publicly soon so you can wait for that
Okay so here is the solution , it was posted earlier but not sure how many of you read it . Please download iOS 13.2. Beta and it should solve the issue. It solved mine that’s for sure !

For me:
Only occurred after update to iOS 13. Replacement screen had no issue on iOS12.anything
After the most recent update tonight I am no longer able to swipe to get out of my apps and this is very frustrating because I’m stuck in the app and have to turn my phone on and off to do anything this is insane
Haha yup, ended up figuring that out also. I’m like wtf. I messaged Apple Support via Twitter and they told me to do the same. I responded and was like, no. It worked perfectly fine before. I can swim up to unlock and close the lock screen notifications. I just can’t with any apps. Like come on...
I hope people see this and tell that there having this issue.......even if it's it sign in and let apple know there's a problem with IOS 13 on what seems to be on iPhone X.......for me it works on the lock screen when I scroll up to unlock but doesn't work on apps........people are saying phone was fine before update. Mine was fine before as well
Same issue here!! Even had this issue on the iOS 13 beta and submitted SEVERAL reports and got zero feed back. I also spent hours with Apple support blaming my phone saying it could NOT but the update but it clearly is! I have tried this on both my iPhone X and both are doing the same thing. I can swipe to unlock the phone but can’t swipe up to get back to the home screen or close apps. No issues until this update!
Thank god I am not the only one dealing with this issue! I thought something was wrong with my phone because my friend wasn’t having this issue after she updated to IOS 13. Apple needs to fix this problem. After I updated my phone I couldn’t swipe out of my apps to go to the home page. My phone was working perfectly fine before I updated it! I’m using assistive touch now, but it’s just annoying to use it because I’m so used to just swiping out of my apps to go to my home page! I guess this is just a temporary fix for now and Apple needs to fix this issue asap!
Same here on my iPhone XS. I’m using the assistive touch solution like others have mentioned. One thing to note is that the iOS 13 update moved the accessibility settings up a level so here’s the new path:
Settings > Accessibility > Touch > AssistiveTouch
I'm having absolutely NO issue using the App Switcher to close apps on iPhone Xs Max with iOS 13. Are you sure you're using the correct procedure?
From the bottom of the screen, swipe HALF-WAY up the screen and hold for a second. The open apps appear, and then swipe up to close them.
This is working exactly as it should for me.
