Cant swipe up and close apps after ios 13 upgrade IphoneX

Okay, it’s working for me.

it’s not as smooth as the old iOS, but in any open app, you’ll see a black line at the bottom of your screen.

place your finger on that and draw a backwards 7, bringing your first “leg” of your 7 to at least the middle of the length of the screen.

it’s not smooth, but it works.

mat least, I’m lucky enough that it does for me.

Same Problem here on iPhone X, on iOS 12 no problem, Updated to Beta ios13 swipe up to exit apps not working, downgraded to 12, it worked again. Now with the official release same problem, I cannot exit apps... it’s clear that there is a problem on iPhoneX

hello all, i was updating my iphone 7 plus to the ios 13 and it’s stuck on “ estimating time remaining”, 5 days passed and it’s still stuck on that. i tried booting, turning off everything and reseting settings and network. i really want to fix this?

Yes, happening to me. Can swipe up to unlock iPhone X but swipe up doesn't work at all after that. Doesn't matter which gesture I use. The backwards 7 doesn't work for me. It's like the swipe up to access apps was left out after u unlock.

This happened after updating to iOS 13.

13.1 not fixed! Wonder how widespread this is

I downgraded my OS to 12.4.1 and then the ups-wipe worked perfectly once again to close the apps. This morning was much relieved to see the 13.1 update and promptly installed the same.Unfortunately they haven't resolved this isssue in the update and I went back to my original issue that the up-swipe wouldn't work to close the apps .

Yeah it's happening to me too. Really surprised that this hasn't been resolved considering it is impacting phones which cost thousands of dollars. Have we heard of similar issues on Android devices? Starting to think I made the wrong choice sticking with Apple

Just got the iphone 11 Pro, and I have the same issue. i was able to get it to work a couple of times by swiping up from the bottom left corner, but it is very sporadic. QUITE annoying! I enabled the assistive touch to create a "home button" then navigate from there to get the option. Device-to More-to app Switcher

With the AssistiveTouch solution the icon stays on your screen all the time which gets annoying. You can go a step further and set it up as a shortcut to use triple-clicking the side button. That will toggle the AssistiveTouch icon so you'll only see it when you need it.

This is a mystery to me. I have iPhone Xs Max and iPhone 11, both on iOS 13.1, neither with ANY issue swiping up to open App Switcher to close apps.

Are you swiping up from the middle of the bottom of your iPhone screen SLOWLY, then hold your finger there for a moment, then release your finger?

rbrylawski, this seems to be a software issue limited to iPhone X with aftermarket screens. People aren't suddenly opening dozens of threads with multiple pages because they forgot how to use their phone.

No it's not. Just read the many posts. People with iPhone 11 reporting this issue. iPhone 11 Pro too.

Thanks for your comment, but I don't really need to be told that people haven't forgotten how to use their phone. Being on this forum for years, I never take for granted everyone knows how to do something.

That's just one and it's only a few posts above.

It does seem predominantly tied to iPhone X. Though not sure why mostly the X? And we had an X which we sold to a friend, which I had updated to iOS 13 and the App Switcher is working fine on it. I just checked with him.

Not sure why just the X, but I don't think I've seen anyone say they have this issue with the original OEM screen from Apple - tons of posts mention that they've had the screen replaced. I just got my X the other day from a friend who had his screen replaced at a little shop at the airport at some point. It was an LCD, not OLED. Can't confirm 100% but it really feels like it has to do with certain aftermarket screens. Obviously Apple can't be faulted for not having tested their software with every third party screen on the market, but hopefully they're able to release an update to address it.

I wanted an OLED screen anyways so I had mine replaced again at the mall (Apple support said they wouldn't replace my screen since it had third party parts - not sure if that's true though).

Still not OEM, but it's working now so it must be only certain aftermarket screens.
