iOS 13 update bricked my iPhone SE

Yesterday, my iPhone (running iOS 10.3.3 at that time) offered me to update to the new iOS 13 release.

I started the update. After the download had succeeded, the usual progress bar was shown. Then the boot screen with the Apple logo appeared. I thought all is good, but I was wrong.

My device is stuck in a boot loop. The Apple logo is shown, then after 30 seconds (or so) the screen turns black for a second. Then the cycle repeats.

That's sad.

I'm now trying to recover it using "DFU" mode.

Oh dear, I'm sorry to hear you've lost your data. That is very upsetting for you, a situation caused by Apple and their software.

Im in the process today of trying to update. Twice iTunes has told me it can't Update my phone and it needs to be reset. I'm nervous of doing this (because of your experience) even though I did backup to iCloud.

Last attempt we could not get the phone to go into recovery mode at all.

It all seems to be a bit like a conspiracy by apple to force the purchase of a new handset. Even though they assure us in all the reports that iOS 13.3 is designed to take iPhones SE's into consideration. Not to mention the hours of lost time going through these wretched processes.

Fingers crossed "third time is a charm". Thank you for your warning and update. An empty celebration that you are now out of your reboot loop. How is your phone handling the software upgrade.... ?

Vivien,

I did every operation with the SIM removed.

I wanted to update to the current iOS 13.3 so my phone was ready for the upcoming 13.3.1. I don't know what went wrong when I updated the phone. iTunes should not restore the phone software without your confirmation. So just keep trying to update and closely watch the messages.

How my phone is handling the software update? I don't know because I'm using a different phone since my iPhone SE went into the boot loop.

Hi Dan

In the end I had to rest my phone to factory settings. When I then went to iCloud to restore the latest back up I was greatly relieved to see not only my iPhone back up but my iPad too. I keep them synced.

I cant say if iOS 13.3.1 is of any help. I can say that my phone hasn't prompted me to do the update as it usually does which is curious.
