The cursor’s magnifying glass - missing

When trying to move the cursor, if you hold down your finger you would get a little magnifier allowing me to position the cursor exactly where I wanted it...

After installing ios 13, it's not working...

Please advise...

Thanks, Richie...

Solved now! It was just annoying.

like @Tuumme said, even at my iphone 6s, the Keyboard area while typing can be temporarily switched into a touchpad kind of area by pressing the keypad with one finger a little bit harder.

This way, you can swipe your finger at keypad without lifting it up and watch the cursor move and control it, and subsequently placing it where you would like to have it..

kind regards,

On iPhones that support 3D Touch, you can deep-press the keyboard area to get a quasi-trackpad for moving the cursor. However, iPhone 11s no longer support 3D Touch, so I’m not sure what Apple has in mind for putting down the cursor within a word.

Yes I am aware of this option, but if you have eyesight problems this is hard to navigate to the area you wish. The magnifying glass was much easier to use in many ways.

Yes! Me, too! We really need it for accessibility!

We use the microphone a lot. But, sometimes we want to correct what we’ve said. Then, we need the magnifying glass to go back and see what we’ve done. One of my family members has essential tremor (like Katherine Hepburn had). So, the magnifier was really really useful. (I typed in this paragraph using the microphone.)

For example, I couldn't even go back and capitalize Essential Tremor - in the last paragraph - to indicate that it is a medical condition that interferes with motor skills. (I typed in this paragraph using the keyboard.)

Dear Apple, please turn the magnifying glass back on, or give us a similar function for accessibility. We love your products for the safety and security they provide: the new fall detection and SOS calling is a must have for all of our elderly parents! please help us take care of them and the rest of our families. Thanks 🙏

Perhaps instead a long press on the Space bar...

Turn your keyboard into a trackpad
Touch and hold the Space bar with one finger until the keyboard turns light gray.
Move the insertion point by dragging around the keyboard.

And: Haptic Touch: The Ultimate Guide

"You no longer "deep press" or "hard press" to trigger an action. Instead, place your finger on what you want to get more info or perform a new action and rest it there for two seconds. Then, tap the action you want to use."
