The memoji on iphone 7 doesn’t work well on Whatsapp (but works fine on iMessage).
It is sent as photo and not as sticker/ regular emoji, while on iphone x it works just fine.
Is there anything I’m missing? Can I change any setting for it to work?

No, Apple is never responsible for 3rd parties apps.
iOS beta is created for app developer to test their apps/products before the final iOS is released to the public.
It's the app developer responsibility is to make sure it can run with all the new iOS features without any issues.
And should correct it if found. You should inform Whatsapp developer for support.
You cannot be serious that Apple should take care of millions 3rd parties apps.
WhatsApp is not an Apple product, best you consult the app developer on their website/forum.
Still, apple responsible to the connection between memoji and whatsapp. Just as regular emojis and stickers, and especially since memoji is apple exclusive.
