I have 5GB of system files and 2GB data and just left with 2GB free space in my SE what can I do?

I just updated to ios 13 and as they mentioned smaller app size and data size in the update , instead of more free space it ended up consuming more space than before. I have 5GB of system files and 2GB data and just left with 2GB free space in my SE what can I do?

HELP!!!

Hey there, sulav697!

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities. I understand that you've got some concerns over the storage on your iPhone after updating to iOS 13. I'm happy to help!

After updating your iOS software, your iPhone will need time to reorganize your files and apps, especially if there are major changes like moving from iOS 12 to iOS 13. This should sort itself out within a few days, but if you continue to see storage issues I'd recommend the following steps:

  1. Restart your iPhone: Restart your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. Use How to check the storage on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support to get more information on how your device reports its storage, investigate what is using the storage, and implement optimization where you can.
  3. Reinstall the iOS 13 software to your phone using the "Reinstall iOS" section of If you see the Connect to iTunes screen on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support. Even though the title of the article doesn't quite match your issue, the reinstallation steps are what we need. And while this step shouldn't remove any of your personal data, I'd still encourage you to create a backup before reinstalling, just in case: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support.

Have a good day!
