Calendar app security certificate issue

My brand new MacBook Air has started sending me an error message when I open the Calendar app. It says:

Calendar can't verify the identity of the server "p51-caldav.icloud.com". The certificate for the server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be "p51-caldav.icloud.com" which could put your confidential information at risk.

Does anyone know what causes this issue and how it can be made to go away?

Hi, Jay!

Thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities. If I understand your post, you're getting an error when trying to open the Calendar app that the iCloud server couldn't be verified. I'm happy to help!

First, quit the Calendar app: Quit apps on Mac - Apple Support, then restart your Mac: How to turn your Mac on or off - Apple Support.

If you still get the error in Calendar after that, see if it occurs in safe mode: Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac - Apple Support, and then a new user: How to test an issue in another user account on your Mac - Apple Support.

Should the issue persist, I'd recommend next turning the Calendar sync off temporarily in System Preferences > iCloud. Choose to delete your events from the computer. They will remain in iCloud. Then, restart your Mac again and turn the Calendar sync back on after it is back on. Then, check to see if the error persists.

Enjoy your weekend!
