Since updating to iOS 13 on iPhone XS, I'm getting duplicate birthdays in the Calendar app.
I'm now up to 3 birthdays per person, even my own, one though I've removed my birthday from my own contact card.
They can't be deleted, and I've tried turning off calendar sync in iCloud settings, rebooting, then adding calendar sync, and end up with an an extra birthday per person.
The duplicates do not show up on on my MacBook Pro or iMac.

Same issue on my new iPhone 11 Pro. After setting it up, under iOS 13 got multiple birthday entries for the same person in my calendar. Removed Contacts from iCloud en then turning it back on didn't help. Restarting device also didn't help.
On my Mac, on my iPad (still running iOS 12) and in iCloud everything shows up normal.

Exactly the same. Some have stayed singular, some duplicate, some triplicate and even a few appear 4 times. When clicking on birthday, there appears to be a dead and blank contact behind them which cannot be deleted.
And each attempt to turn off account’s contact settings, rebooting phone and turning contacts back on again, results in adding an extra birthday entry. Where there was two there is now three. Come in Apple. My iPad still on iOS 12 and that’s having no problems.
Also got this problem. Really annoying.
iPhone 11 Pro, 256GB, iOS 13, local sync (iTunes) using iMac (2017, 21,5", macOS 10.14.6, iTunes 12.9.5.5)
With each sync, despite selecting replace Contact/Cal or not Birthday Cal keeps adding another entry for each one.
Even after removing all Contacts/Cal from iPhone Birthday Cal still has entries. If you click on one it shows an "empty" contact.
Moreover sync'ing Contacts doubles each entry; i.e. on macOS there is e.g. Person A, Person B, Person C, ... and on iPhone after sync: Person A, Person A, Person B, Person B, ... each with a "full entry", i.e. Pic, Adresse, Phonenumbers, etc.
This needs to be fixed really quick.
It really sucks that Apple is not able to get local sync working correctly. Each new macOS/iPhone there are always issues. Sometimes not all Cal sync, sometimes Contacts are missing, sometimes you get doubles, etc. etc. - back in 2009 when I started with an iPod touch and a MacBook and that **** iCloud was no thing everything went so smooth - wish we could have back this good ol' days :(

I also have had this issue, also noted that when deleting an old contact their birthday has remained in the calendar but is not duplicated as existing contacts are.
Safe to say this is an IOS13/Birthday calendar issue. Let’s hope Apple pick up on this earlier rather than later.
Looks like it's fixed in 13.1
