There is not enough disk space available to install the product?

I am trying to install a game from the app store. I have 68.44 GB storage available and I am trying to download Civilization 6 which is 10.1 GB. However, when I go to download the game I get "We could not complete your purchase. There is not enough disk space available to install the product." I am on a macOS Mojave version 10.14.6 MacBook Pro (Retina, 13in, Late 2013).

Thanks for that info and for choosing the Apple Support Communities. If I understand correctly, you are unable to install an app from the App Store on your MacBook Pro. To help isolate this issue, use safe mode to start up your Mac as it does the following things:



  • Verifies your startup disk and attempts to repair directory issues, if needed
  • Loads only required kernel extensions
  • Prevents Startup Items and Login Items from opening automatically
  • Disables user-installed fonts
  • Deletes font caches, kernel cache, and other system cache files



Log in to your user account and test the issue while in safe mode and then restart normally and test the issue again.



Use safe mode to isolate issues with your Mac

Graphics performance limited in macOS Recovery, safe mode, or Guest User mode



Next, check the format of your hard drive, as this app does not support Mac OS Extended (CaseSensitive) formatting.

I have the same problem. However, in my case it involves an update to a product (Mimeo Photos) that I deleted long ago. All of a sudden the App Store wants to update this software. However, it complains that "There is not enough disk space available to install the product.". However, Disk Utility says that I have 164GB free space on the boot drive.


Here's what I've tried:


  • Rebooting
  • Rebooting into Safe Mode
  • Forcing Spotlight to reindex the boot drive.


Reindexing helps for a while. The Mimeo Photos update immediately disappears from the App Store, but then reappears after a few hours.
