I have the apple watch version 4 or what eve the newest one is, and it keeps asking me for my apple ID even if I just put it in. I went into settings and there is no option to enter my password to reset. How do I fix this?

I had this very annoying experience too. I have tried all the suggestions here. I dont know if its plain coincidence. But when i installed the latest versions on the phone (13.4) and watch (6.2), the problem suddenly stopped. Now there's a new notification for the watch (6.2.1). I am hesitant as it might go back. Is there anyone from apple reading this?

It is not in settings. You have to enter it in in the box that pops up on the phone when you touch the little keyboard (Picture) on the watch. You have to be fast !

This was a frustrating thing for me. I found it by watching my phone to see what would flash up on the phone when I would hit the little keyboard on the watch. I finally saw that it was an entry box. It flashes on the phone screen so fast I could not even read it, then it goes away! So do this: put your: iphone in your lap where you can quickly touch the box that will flash at the top of the phone screen. Follow the prompts on the watch to get to that PASSWORD then KEYBOARD. When you tap that little KEYBOARD on your watch your phone opens up a box for you to enter the password. You have to be fast. When you finally get to that point and you tap the box on your iphone, a keyboard will pop up, on the phone, for you to enter your password. The first time I did it I entered my itunes apple store password. That worked for about a day. Then when it asked again the next day I entered my iCloud password, because I have them separate for some reason... Anyway once I had entered them both I was done. It never asked me for the password again.

It is not in the watch setting or phone setting. I don't know where it ends up but you enter it is a box that pops up on the phone when you tap that little keyboard picture that comes up on the watch when the follow the prompts...You have to be fast to catch it....

What a pain. After 40 minutes with an Apple support person by phone who couldn't help and mysteriously disappeared. I slogged on because I need my watch for everything including unlocking my Mac.

On your Apple Watch, the message pops up on your watch requesting you to enter your PASSWORD (not the 4-6 digit passcode) on Watch Scribble or the 2nd option keyboard (no idea where that is, no pop-up and couldn't find on Watch app on iPhone). I was able to finally get it to accept my password on Scribble. Had to try several times to recognize Cap letter, lowercase and numbers. If you have a complicated password, and it doesn't pass, try again. Works great if you are Scribble-adept. Best of luck. (Apple Watch 5/iPhone XS Max)

I have since resolved the issue like most people, I just reset my watch but what I don’t get is, where in the heck is the watch keyboard that they say you can use to enter your password in?

I didn’t take a screen grab but it does give you the option or using a “keyboard”. When you go for the latter, it says, “use watch keyboard on your device” (or something to that effect). I go to my device (assuming it’s means my phone) and I can’t seem to find it.

Exactly the same thing started happening to me on my Apple Watch 3 month ago. A message pops up on my watch asking for the password to my Apple ID. I have tried to enter it in with my finger and it always always says it’s wrong. When I tap the keyboard option it says go to the keyboard on my iOS device and there isn’t one. I’ve had multiple tickets with the Apple customer support. One provider said that the keyboard pops up on your iOS device so fast that most people miss it. I don’t think this is true because I have had my phone on and in my hand while I tap the keyboard icon on the watch face and I have never seen a keyboard pop up on my phone. Both customer service providers have told me that there is no way to enter your Apple ID password in your Apple Watch app unprompted. The big problem is that once I get this request asking for my Apple ID password on my watch, the watch is unable to make calls, receive calls, or receive texts. So this has turned my watch into an expensive bracelet. The only thing that works temporarily is to Power down and unpair the watch and start over. This gives me about an hour of functional use before the password request pops up again and my watch is useless again. I actually just told the customer service provider I was on the phone with today about this thread and I said from what I can understand this is a glitch that is destroying peoples watches and there is no known solution for it. He told me that Apple does monitor these forums and if there’s a problem this widespread they will usually work on trying to fix it. At this point we are going to be making a ticket for the engineers to help me as customer service can’t solve the problem.

I got two Apple Watches back in working order via the watch face with Scribble. As you saw, it is one of the two options that show on the watch face when your required password is prompted. I never found whatever keyboard they're referring to. Please see my earlier entries. Even if I thought I got it right on Scribble, it took several tries before it finally worked and I have over a dozen characters. If your finger isn't registering, try a stylus which is what I used on the 2nd watch, BAM, it worked! Go slow. (Granted, one needs some experience using Scribble.) All this was because I had to change my AppleID password due to a hack. Unfortunately, if the techs can't see your watch face, I'm not sure they'll understand! I don't think it's a glitch, but a step to protect our security made nearly impossible. I understand your frustration. Best of luck!

I have tried Scribble several times....and can see what I am writing and its the RIGHT password.....but I always get a message saying incorrect. I use this password for everything on Apple so I know it's right. You're saying you also put in the correct password and it just didn't take also ? Then it finally did ?

I will keep trying ......Maybe using a stylus ....lol

Thank you for your input !

Yes, it took NUMEROUS tries with my finger on one watch. Slowly "drawing" the characters as big as will fit. You laugh! I have a Pogo Stylus from years ago which worked on the 2nd watch on the first try. Note: I tried reaching out to an Apple Support person who didn't know the answer and then after a half hour, she disappeared (like, oops). So it it's to be, it's up to me… good luck!

I tried scribble several times, and I always got the message saying it was the incorrect password. The only possibility I can think of is that my pword contains a zero, and they thought it was the letter O? I tried to make a line diagonally through the zero to make it clear but it wouldn't read. Would have been much easier if the keyboard they're referring to actually existed - per both of the Apple advisors I spoke to there is no such keyboard.
