My Apple Watch keeps asking for my Apple ID password

I also have been having this issue, while I was setting up the Apple Watch it asked for a password to an Apple ID I haven’t used in a long time, (about 7 years). I clicked cancel, since then it has randomly popped up on my watch & iPhone.

i have no idea what the password is anymore & I tried logging in to find password on the Apple website but it didn’t recognise the ID anyway.

I have now done a forced restart on my iPhone so I’ll see if that changes anything. 😩

My issue is definitely connected to wifi somehow as if I go away from our wifi or like today I was the the neighbours, the wifi was too weak so I turned if off for about an hour or so, turned it back on at home. Later that day the first time I used my watch hey presto the Apple ID & once I cancel it appears on my phone then I tap not now which seems to stop it.

The problem is I can’t log in anywhere to this ID as it’s no longer valid, it is an old I’d font used since about 2012 on an iPod.

made a new ID when I bought my first iPhone in 2013.

I did discover an LP I bought with that old ID which may be triggering the prompt, I don’t want to pay for it again. 😢

QUICK SOLUTION!

My girlfriend’s watch has been doing this and driving her crazy. Found out she used to share an Apple ID with her family, she has since made her own. Because of this, a few of her older apps were downloaded on her family’s Apple ID while a majority of them were downloaded with hers (the id the watch and phone are logged into). We narrowed down which apps she downloaded on her family’s account, removed them from the watch and re-installed them with her account. This allows you to stay logged into your Apple ID the entire time. Voila, no more annoying message!

This is happening constantly on my watch and have not fixed it - its asking me to sign into an account thats not mine. I figured out I had music in my iTunes that was purchased by someone else. Deleted the music but it keep happening!

I have erased the watch and setup again but every 30 seconds I'm getting a request to sign in. After this is transfer to my phone.

HURRY UP APPLE AND FIX THIS! LOOK HOW MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS PROBLEM.

My watch kept asking for the password without showing the keyboard as I requested on my watch. I pressed the keyboard on my watch and when it showed on my phone to enter the password I entered it on my iPhone. A rectangle appeared for me to enter the password. After that I was given a code to enter on my watch. After completing this task the pop up is no longer appearing on my watch.

This was a frustrating thing for me. I found it by watching my phone to see what would flash up on the phone when I would hit the little keyboard on the watch. I finally saw that it was an entry box. It flashes on the phone screen so fast I could not even read it, then it goes away! So do this: put your: iphone in your lap where you can quickly touch the box that will flash at the top of the phone screen. Follow the prompts on the watch to get to that PASSWORD then KEYBOARD. When you tap that little KEYBOARD on your watch your phone opens up a box for you to enter the password. You have to be fast. When you finally get to that point and you tap the box on your iphone, a keyboard will pop up, on the phone, for you to enter your password. The first time I did it I entered my itunes apple store password. That worked for about a day. Then when it asked again the next day I entered my iCloud password, because I have them separate for some reason... Anyway once I had entered them both I was done. It never asked me for the password again.

When u say they tied it to your screen .... your phone screen or watch ? I called ... and after almost an hour ...... it’s STILL popping up ...no help

i mentioned them taking over ... had no idea about that .... frustrating

I have since resolved the issue like most people, I just reset my watch but what I don’t get is, where in the heck is the watch keyboard that they say you can use to enter your password in?

I didn’t take a screen grab but it does give you the option or using a “keyboard”. When you go for the latter, it says, “use watch keyboard on your device” (or something to that effect). I go to my device (assuming it’s means my phone) and I can’t seem to find it.

This is also the solution I’ve found works...if you press the little keyboard on your watch a keyboard pops up on my iPad Ivender my Apple password and voila it stops the reminders until the next iOS update...

I found out what my issue. At some point I changed my Password, but when it asked if I wanted to sign out on other devices, I said NO. Big mistake because somehow the watch must have gotten updated but could not sign back in because it did not have the correct password. Thanks to all the answers from the other people, I learned how to fix it and all is well now.

My iwatch was asking for my son's AppleID. Transpires that in the settings on my watch app on my phone under

General> Apple ID>

my sons's apple ID was entered as well as mine. This is because I once let him use my watch with his AppleID.

Anyway to uncouple his ID I had to go to my Phone (not watch) settings and under

Settings>Messages>Send & Receive I had to take out his Apple ID.

Just a thought, I would suggest you not set up using backup with your new watch. Start new. Sorry to hear of issues, having since fixed my AppleID problem, I’ve had no issues since. Apple really needs to address this. It shouldn’t be made so difficult. Best of luck. I love my Watch6.

same problem with version 5. what i also noticed is since i have this problem, it drains my battery. usually i had a day and a half of battery and not not even a day

i have a single apple ID

please help as otherwise there is no use of the watch

This did not work for me either. Just started getting the message tonight (September 29).

I had the same issue this morning but I have only one account. I entered the password on my phone and so far so good; I can use my watch.
