Siri: Speech “To The Power Of” HELP ME

Hi, so I have Siri Speech enabled so I can have my notes read to me. I have the Siri UK male voice enabled and it reads words with no problem, but recently I tried changing it to a different voice (any voice) and when it reads an em dash it says “To the power of”. So basically if I write—it says “To the power of”. I know this is confusing, I tried my best to explain. If anyone knows how to stop Siri Speech from saying, “The power of” every time I try to make it read a sentence with an em dash, please let me know! Thanks!

Ok, I have an update. So, after working with support, the work around we came across was to have a single space between then em dash and the text on both sides. Although visually it's a bit wonky, it isn't so bad as to be overly distracting. If you're working with large documents like me, all I did was do a mass replace for all em dashes which made the process quite easy. If you're going to print or make your writing public, you can always go back and mass remove the spaces just before publishing.

Yeah, after a factory reset on my phone, then on my watch to get it connecting properly with my phone again, I'm back to square one. Frustrating is an understatement!

With the last update, I no longer have any problems with it. It works like it should. The “ to the power of “ is gone!

I fixed the issue by restarting my phone. Very relieved that I didn’t have to do a factory reset.

Accessibility, Spoken content, Speak screen Samantha Enhanced (voice) still says "to the power of" with dashes in my Kindle books.

"To the Power Of" is not gone.

it happens in any app that uses Siri as a reader - or using the read page option — to the power of annoying the **** out of me.

This worked for me but I had to copy the text directly from the kindle app rather than type it in manually.

I don’t know if Apple will read this comment, but this also happens when Siri reads closed quotes. I hope they are able to fix this issue.

I just wanted to report in this thread that updating to iOS 13.3 fixes this issue for me. I no longer hear “to the power of” when closed quotes are encountered by iOS in reading text out loud.
