itunes rented movie keeps freezing

When watching rented iTunes movies it keeps freezing.


Any ideas what is going on?

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. I understand you’re running into some issues with movies you’ve rented from the iTunes Store on your Mac. I’ll be happy to help with this.


To verify, are you streaming these movies, or do you download to your Mac first? If you’re streaming them, try downloading them first and see if that has any impact on the issue.


If downloading doesn’t help, try restarting your Mac to see if this helps. You can also delete the movie and download it again.


If this doesn’t, see if the issue continues in a test user as this can tell you if it’s related to something just on your user account. This link can help with this step:

Also, check for an update to iTunes. If you're on Mojave, iTunes updates are included with macOS updates. Take a look at the following links for help doing this:
