Severe battery drain Apple Watch series 5

Hi There,

My series 5 battery is dying in less than 8 hours, overnight, whilst in aeroplane mode and cinema mode.

Charged again and tried to use normally throughout day, was dead in 5 hours.

Anyone else experiencing this issue, any resolution, or is the device defective?

Thanks

Update: I did a hard reset of the watch 4 times yesterday - fully charged it overnight, started wearing it around 8 am this morning and it is now 3 pm @ 75% charge. Doing the hard resets seems to of fixed it!

AppleWatch Series 5 Nike+ GPS. Watch OS6.0.1. Only had my watch for one week and the battery drain is horrible (compared to Series, 1,2,3,4). I opened a case with Apple Support the same day as the watch was received. Turning off the "always on" feature seemed to help. However, the screen remained somewhat dimly lit. I have brightness set to the maximum. I have done the suggested (here on this thread) reset. No change in the drain. At 5pm yesterday, the watch was fully charged. I did normal activities and took it off at 10pm. By 6am, the watch had drained to 64%! Within the past 2 days, the watch is now extremely slow to charge. From 64% to 95% takes 1 hour 20 minutes. Crazy.

I was back with a supervisor in AppleSupport this morning who has made an appointment for me to return/exchange the watch on Tuesday at an Apple Store 55 miles away. Worst release of an Apple product EVER (Apple user since 1984).

Experiencing the same issues. Series 5 w/ Cellular. I have unpaired and reset the watch, did a whole day without cellular and Always On Display and only got 10 hours. No workouts were done and just kept it on to see how it lasted. I just took it off the charger and less than 10 minutes I’m at 98%. I had the Series 3 w/o cellular prior and was able to get 2 days out of that. I don’t think it makes any difference as my phone is always with me during these tests.

I’ve also noticed that depending on what happens AOD screen when enabled holds the notification and keeps the screen on full with a hazed background and the time in the corner. As if it’s not able to release the notifications when AOD is disabled like it was with the Apple Watch 4.

theres a few odd things and depending on what’s going on with each setup it’s unique.

i didn’t do a hard reset but did re-enable it over the weekend and it did last fairly well. I just think there are tweaks that need to occur and hoping we will see a watchOS update I. The near future to assist without the need to continually reset or disable the feature we bought it for

I have a series 5 that i got on Friday from apple.com. Today, Monday morning is the first time i put the watch on my wrist. Charged it the whole weekend and it is 1PM Monday afternoon and the Watch is completely dead, 0 battery life left. I had 2 meetings this morning so i didnt even use the watch. Extremely ****** off about this. My series 4 was great from day 1.
