iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

I updated to 13.1.2 It looks like "MOST" of my issues have been fixed with this latest update. My 2012 Scion xB stock stereo is now not dropping or getting garbled calls. My iFrogz headphones are now staying connected when paused in Pandora.

The only remaining bug(s) I'm seeing are:

  1. Hey Siri is somewhat spotty. Like the phone isn't hearing me sometimes. Very random.
  2. When placing a call via Hey Siri in my car, the bluetooth connection between my iphone 11 and my scion xB, will connect/disconnect several times before the dialing sound starts. Once the dialing starts, it stays connected.

13.1.2 on TWO iPhone 11 Pro Max 256GB devices. Bluetooth connections to the UConnect 8.4N in both my 2014 Dodge Journey SXT Plus and my 2015 Dodge Dart GT drop (if it ever connects), or simply won’t connect at all.

Tried with same iOS version on my iPhone X 256GB....connects (and stays connected) every time.

Tried daughter’s iPhone XR (iOS 13.1.2). No issues.

Coworker has same exact iPhone 11 Pro Max-and has similar connection issues with the receivers in his cars.

I have apple care was given new phone as I got it a week ago. The new one does the same thing. Friend of mine has a older apple phone, updated to 13.1.2 and has no problems on my car. I believe it is the actual iphone 11's.

My 11 Pro Max has no issues pairing with any BT device I've tried so far, so remember to contact Apple directly if you are having this issue.

It doesn't matter if a different phone works; if the radio hangs or crashes, it needs to be repaired not to do so.

There is nothing in the Bluetooth protocol that allows a device to hang or reboot the remote system. If it is doing so, it is a bug in that unit.

The example I am forced to give each year when new phones are released:

Say you have a computer that will add 2 + 3, but when asked to add 3 + 2 it crashes.

A new release of software adds 3 + 2, causing a crash; old software always adds 2 + 3.

It's not the responsibility of the software manufacturer to make sure they always add 2 + 3; it's the responsibility of the computer/operating system provider to make sure it doesn't crash when you add 3 + 2.

I respectfully disagree as well, and I for one am not forcing you to use that rather condescending analogy.

Bluetooth connectivity stability can absolutely be a problem with the phone, and the phone is the common denominator among the 1000+ people on this thread with the same issue. If Apple has put out a device that is not compatible with the majority of car manufacturers, then it is an Apple issue.

According to Apple’s website, 13.1.2 “addresses an issue where Bluetooth may disconnect on certain vehicles.” It sounds to me like Apple knows the problem is theirs as well.

Today I discovered from other threads that the root cause of a problem I also have since iOS 13 is in fact another BT in car related issue.

Issue is that ringer and alert volume gets set way low, too low to hear phone ring, by driving in car (and connecting iPhone via BT). When stop and shut off car and get out, the ringer volume stays on the very low setting.

It is affecting all iPhones models that can run iOS 13, and a very wide variety of car manufacturers.

Although it is not the exact problems reported on this thread, I’ve posted here because it is BT iPhone to car related. It started with iOS 13. Have missed a lot of phone calls because of it. And some of you may have same issue, but not yet “connected” it to trips in car.

If not for those other threads, I might never have realized it was related to the car/BT. But tested on 5 short trips today, setting 100% ringer volume before getting in car. Ringer volume down way too low after each trip.

this is a big issue and it must be sorted. It’s an ios13 issue not iPhone model

specific. My Bluetooth connects and disconnects constantly on r link 2. When connected phone can be used but no media/music. It’s a nightmare. Tried all this no contacts sync etc etc. makes no difference. Apple and/or Renault need to get it sorted as a matter of priority now starting to become an issue for all users

Bought my iPhone 11 on 09/22 & have been following this thread since the 23rd...my Plantronics M180 bluetooth earpiece will connect & then disconnect. It will be connected anywhere between 30 seconds on up to 15 minutes or so & then disconnects. Had no issues on my 6s since buying the M180 a year ago.

Since getting the 11, after the initial connection is made, the earpiece announces that it's connected & the time remaining on the battery (which is normal) but then at some point it will repeat and then state that no phone is connected. Also, when a call comes in (when it's actually connected), the volume on the first ring is normal & then subsequent ring volume is so much lower I can barely hear it.

Just updated the iPhone 11 to iOS 13.1.3 and still have the problem. Applied the setting to "forget this device" for the M180, turned the bluetooth off & powered off the phone for a few minutes. Power it back on, turn the bluetooth on, pair the M180 and then after a while it still disconnects. So, 13.1.3 did not work for my Plantronics M180 :(

I am still having issues with the Bluetooth connection to my 2018 Highlander. I am on IOS 13.1.3. and the radio has all the firmware updates. The phone will play music through the Bluetooth great but when you try to use the phone it will stay connected for a random period of time usually between 3 and 8 minutes. The connection lasted longer with my Fitbit unpaired however then end result was the same. Support wanted me to remove the case again no change. We renamed the device, reset the network settings, re-paired it with the radio multiple times. The latest step was to factory reset the phone after a back up and set it up from scratch. Once again the calls will only last for less then 10 minutes. From the reset the only thing that was one the phone Bluetooth wise was the radio. After achieving the same results I reset the phone and restored my backup. I appreciate supports help in this issue and hope that a solution will come along soon.

I also have a 2016 tundra with Entune plus head unit. When I first got the new phone, my head unit kept rebooting every 3 minutes. They updated the firmware, replaced the head unit....nothing changed. I rest my phone as new and it stopped the rebooting...but calls would disconnect over Bluetooth. Apple then replaced my phone...same issues. So I did the new update (iOS 13.1.3) and still had issues. After the update, I reset my phone as new (again). My system is back to sporadically rebooting, disconnecting when I make calls, etc. I have been able to be on the phone for over 20 min with no disconnect, but this is not always the case. Like sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t. Also, now my system is rebooting like every minute, or when I try to switch to something like XM radio. I’m honestly out of ideas and don’t know if I can handle resetting up my phone again (I have already done it 5 times since I got it). As of now, I just disconnect the Bluetooth when I’m the truck so that the head unit stops rebooting. So annoying!

If the Apple engineers are still checking in on this forum - please understand that this issue is not solved for the iPhone 11 Pro. Even on iOS 13.1.3 Siri will still not respond over Bluetooth in the car with the Mazda 2017 head unit. She tries and in fact will stop the Apple Music playback or the Maps audio and attempt to answer and in car Siri requests handsfree. However the audio responses from Siri very rarely, if ever, will play back over Bluetooth car audio. My older iPhones work fine with Siri in the car with the same iOS so clearly there is some hardware issue with the iPhones 11 Pro.

I just bought the iPhone 11 pro Max 256gb and keep having the same issue in my Toyota Tacoma never happened with my iPhone X maybe Toyota’s operating system isn’t working well with new iOS or iPhone hardware.... but apple better resolve this issue because spending $1250 on a new phone to have it not do something as simple and easy as keep Bluetooth connected is absurd, seeing how my later model had no problem with this task makes me feel like why did i even buy this phone should have just kept the X.
