iPhone 11 on iOS 13 having Bluetooth connectivity issues

New iPhone 11 on iOS 13 is having Bluetooth connectivity issues.

both my daughter and I are having the similar issues.

daughters phone is an 11 64GB Purple.

mine is an 11 128GB White

Hers gets connected to her 2018 Toyota C-HR and constantly drops out. Her iPhone 7 Plus never had any issues.

I have mine connected to a Boss BT module on my motorcycle. Never had any issues with my iPhone X.

neither of our other phones we’re running iOS 13.

Turning off Hey Siri worked for me, for now...Thanks! I like most called Apple and they were NO help!. I tried everything else then post and tried it and it worked. Finger crossed it will keep working. After a bit I will call Apple support back and tell them your solution. Thanks again!

My husband and I are having issues as well. We drive 2019 Nissan Versas for work and our iPhone 11 Pro Max will connect to Bluetooth in the car, but sometimes the voice is distorted. But a lot of times, it will connect, but I can’t hear anything, so I switch my phone to speaker or phone and you can hear. Then swap back to car and nothing again. We have turned off Bluetooth, wait 10 seconds and turn back on, with the same results. We have deleted the phone from the car as well as “forget device” and then re-pair, but again with the same results. However, when we delete and pair again, most of the time the first several calls will actually work correctly. Then it’s back to making a call, don’t hear any ringing or the person speaking thru the car’s speakers, switch to Speakerphone or iPhone and we hear them, swap back to car and still can’t hear. It’s really inconvenient to have to unpair and pair the phone and car every time.

For better or worse I just had a 45 minute phone call and spent two hours listening to music via BT in my Toyota and didn't have a single drop of any type, as was the case with previous versions of iOS.

I wonder if it's going to turn out that multiple head ends use a common BT chip that may need a firmware upgrade. We know the issue isn't universal, yet enough people are having issues that there must be some commonality other than it being an iOS 13 or iPhone 11 issue.

The problem is not the Phone 11 or the bluetooth chip. It works great with Spotify. The connection with the car is hassle-free, control via the car is fine. In short all works well. Until I switch off Spotify and switch to the Music app from Apple itself. Then at first a short period of time I have music and then lose the connection with the car. If I switch Apple's Music app off and Spotify on again, everything will go smoothly again. In short, third-party apps work better than Apple's app itself. Not really good marketing and does not match the reliability that Apple always wants. Should think Apple should solve the problem asap.

The Bluetooth on my 11 Pro Max works on my car for music with no real problem just slightly glitchy. The problem I have is phone calls specifically. The calls drop in and out and for some reason the car controls on my Mazda no longer allow me to manage my calls. I can’t hang up with the steering wheel buttons and the car keypad doesn’t register to the phone. I updated last night and I unpaired my car from my phone but it still didn’t work. HELP!!

As I mentioned, zero issues with calls either.

I do not say this to demean those with issues but rather as a datapoint that’s it’s not something genetically wrong with Bluetooth across the board.

I’m still wondering whether there is a common Bluetooth interface chip used in the head ends suffering this issue that may need a firmware update.

iOS 13 updates the implemented BT protocol from 4.2 to 5.0, and though 5.0 is backwards compatible there may be issues in those chips’ implementation of it; we’ll see soon enough.

My Toyota is old enough that it implements BT 3.0 so perhaps the issue is in the backwards compatibility of 4.0/4.1/4.2 systems.

Replaced my iPhone 7 Plus (4 years old) with an iPhone 11 Max, and have IOS13.3 installed. My 7 Plus worked flawlessly with all of my various Bluetooth devices (Bose noise canceling headsets, Bose external speakers in my house, three of my vehicles AND my hearing aids but the iPhone 11 Max will not work via Bluetooth with any of the above. I did get a notice in the 11 Max that it connected with my iMac but I desperately need the Max to work with my hearing aids due to having a condition called "hyperacusis".

I've been online looking at various fixes for the iPhone 11, but none of the "fixes" have corrected this problem of connecting to the devices I have easily and successfully been able to use with my 7 Plus. I've done resets, powered off all my devices and even went as far as removing the SIM card from the 11, reinstalling the SIM and that fails to work.

It is a 400 mile round-trip drive for me to the nearest Apple store and I'm hoping someone has a link to a "fix" for this issue.

I went back to the AT&T store where I bought the 11 (yesterday) and they were not able to get the 11 to connect either.
