So I just upgraded from a series 2 to a series 5. Yesterday was my first full day and about a hour and a half in I was shocked to see the battery at 84%. Today I turned off the noise measurement & after 6 hours, a trip to the gym it’s at 83%. Seems clear what feature is eating the battery.

My S4 is showing different usage and standby.

but thats not what is eating my battery, something else is, and its eating my watch storage too.

I have no apps installed and my photos on the watch are taking 65 MB and music is taking 56MB and all the rest combined will not pass half a gigabyte including music and photos. BUT my available storage is at 0 bytes. My usage is 12.1 GB.

my watch has already told me to delete my 56MB music to make space because it is full. But make space for what and how much more space does it need? And will this 56MB really make a difference.

I have no other apps installed other than what comes with the watch itself. So what is using 12 GB of my watch storage??

I have reset, wiped, clean install without backups, perhaps 15 times since series 5 came out across 3 watches I tried. I did a reset just this morning again - no restore from backup, setting it up as new watch. I have changed nothing from the defaults. Still drains at 7 - 8% per hour, which leaves me with less than 13 hours when not using it at all. Noise off, AOD on. Mine is GPS as I returned my cellular after thinking it might be specific to cellular, but alas, same issues with this GPS only watch.

I did a full reset of the iPhone a while ago, setting it up from scratch. I unfortunately only have this new iPhone 11 Pro so I cannot swop it. But you might be right, I also thought about it as I do not get very good battery life on this phone either. It is at 30% at the end of the day and I do not use it extensively. My old iPhone X was way better.

I’d like to know how people are getting on with the S5 now that there have been several updates. I sent mine back shortly after the launch. After a week of diagnostics and hassle I just couldn’t cope with the terrible battery life after having such a positive experience with the Series 4.

I don’t see many new complaints or articles in the news feeds about it now.
