is it possible to use Carplay standalone?
I have an old merc which will never support it and that would be extremely nice...
what also would be great is to use iPad as a screen for wireless apple carplay!!
I could mount a second iPad in the car and it would be a great experience.
At this point...no.
Best you could do is arrange icons on a "screen" on your iPad for just those apps that would make sense to use in the car. But it would still just be iPadOS at that point and not CarPlay.
There might also be some 3rd-party apps out there that emulate a CarPlay experience. Worth checking in the App Store.
