TOP LINE ON STATUS BAR DISAPPEARED. ONLY APPEARS WHEN MOUSE HITS EDGE OF SCREEN

It sounds like you're in Full Screen mode. Press the Esc key to return to normal view.

Also don't use all caps. It's more difficult to read and is considered to be shouting in forums.

Also look in General system preference for the "Automatically hide and show the menu bar" setting.
