Files App Unresponsive

Hi everyone! I just upgraded to iPadOS yesterday and have loved it so far. One problem I have: in the Files app I tried to download an MP4 file from my Google Drive to the iPad which has made the app unresponsive. I've tried force closing it (swiping it up in the multi-app view) without success. Nothing works in the app at all. I can't select different locations, tags, recent files, anything. It simply won't work. I can go back to home and use other apps just fine.

Anyone else had this issue since the update?

Yes, that solved it. But transferring any file from any location to the iPad itself brings the system crashing to a halt, freezing up, slowing down, etc. For example: I try to copy a 400 meg mp4 file from an sd card to the iPad and after i select the file and choose “Copy” it sits there for a good 20 seconds or more until I can click anything on the files app to select “Paste”. Sometimes when I select the file and choose “copy” my iPad’s touchscreen becomes temporarily unresponsive, other times it becomes unresponsive and whatever other app i happen to be working in crashes completely. It’s really baffling.
