Crashing Safari after Mojave update - Safari 13.0 instead of 13.0.1

Hi,

I have a really strange problem. Today I updated to newest macOS Mojave (10.14.6) and I Should have updated Safari from 13.0 to 13.0.1 but I don't have it - anywhere. After update I can't open Safari - it crashes immediatly. I can't open Safari preferences, check caches, history etc.

I tried so many things from the internet and nothing work (Safe Mode, clearing cache from Library, restart...)

Have you tried opening Safari with the shift key held down?

Are you running any anti - virus programs? Using a VPN?

Try setting up another admin user account in System Preferences/Users & Groups to see if the same problem continues. Please post back on whether or not this worked.

Isolating an issue by using another user account

Try running this program when booted normally and then copy and paste the output in a reply. The program was created by Etresoft, a frequent contributor.  Please use copy and paste as screen shots can be hard to read. Click “Share Report” button in the toolbar, select “Copy to Clipboard” and then paste into a reply. This will show what is running on your computer. No personal information is shown. If the log won’t post, try posting it in Pastebin and provide a link in a reply. After pasting the report in a PasteBin page, go to the top of the page, and copy the address in the URL bar. Paste that in a new reply.        Pastebin

I'm having this issue too.

The Safari.app version in Finder shows 13.0.

I found a link on Apple Developers to download Safari 13.0.1, but installation can't be completed.

The installer screen for selecting an installation destination shows this message:

"Safari can't be installed on this disk. This volume already has a newer version of Safari installed."

I don't think you're alone. Earlier this week, Safari updated, then MacOS update last night (9/26/19). Safari will not open at all, crashes immediately despite repeated attempts. Using MacBook Air, 2013 model. While I'm running parallels and the "other OS", neither is running when I incur this issue. Hopefully and update is coming in the next few days. This issue is on the MacOS side, not runnng Safari anywhere else. Ran Apple Diagnostics, no issues.

That's what I thought! I just wasn't sure because I didn't found any related topics. But it was really shifty for me. I knew it happend after MacOS update and I was wondering - did I interrupt something while it was updating or did update was the cause.

I know, but Eric asked me if I tried. Kursei, did you install the 12.0.2 on Mohave or High Sierra? Did you have 13.0 or 13.0.1 already installed? Did it not complain at all about having a "newer version" already installed? I try to install 13.0.2 on my 13.0.1 version in Mohave and get the "newer version already installed" message.

Thanks,-

I have been experiencing this since upgrading to Mojave circa 8 weeks ago. Mac Air 2015.

Mojave 10.14.6 and Safari 13.0.2 and it still recurs

It appears to me to be some form of memory contention and/or issues with particular website parsing.

To its credit, the OS returns to the login screen, and restarts at (almost) the point it crashed.

Observations - on some sites, with several tabs already open, the safari application halts (whilst memory is filled?) then crashes the box. On other occasions with a modestly chunky document or two one in pages - say 25000 words in all, a 'look up' request in line from pages will show the same behaviour, ending in a system crash.

I'd move to Catalina, but there are backward compatibility issues that are unsurmountable at present.
