Install iTune 9 on Windows 10 - iPod Service Error

Just done a fresh install of Windows 10 64-bit and I'm having problems trying to install my beloved iTunes 9. I don't like the interface of later versions.

The following is copied from a closed thread that I have pasted word-for-word because it explains exactly what I am going through with a laptop that I wish to use for my home media center. I know that iTunes 9 WILL work on Windows 10, because I had it installed on a previous Windows machine. Any solution to getting iTunes 9 installed would be much appreciated. Here was the initial post...

I've successfully had iTunes 9 (9.2.0.61) installed and running on Windows 7 and 8.1 without any problems, but Windows 10 is not having any of it.

So the problem is while running the installer, I get this message around half way through:

"Service 'iPod Service' (iPod Service) failed to start. Verify that you have sufficient privileges to start system services."

Retry is just an endless loop and Cancel simply cancels the installation.

I read in another thread to start iPod Service in Services during installation, but that gives another error "The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion"

Other things I've tried

Running in Compatibility mode for Windows 7/8

Can someone please help me get this version installed on W10?

That is probably what is happening. However, on my previous CPU with Windows 10 (which died and is being replaced with a laptop), it is having this problem. What I am trying down is copying the iTunes files from the old hard drive to the same location in the new drive. I have my doubts it will work, but trying it just the same since all other attempts have failed. I am so bummed that Apple completely changed the iTunes interface. It was perfect, and no matter how hard I tried, I just did not like the new version. It is so user-unfriendly.
