How do you delete group text suggestions on iOS 13?

Once you have the latest software installed (13.4.1) you should no longer be plagued by those suggested groups. However, if I have a recent message still on my main message screen from someone that sent a group text it will become a suggested group text. Try deleting your text that was part of a group and open a new text...it should be gone...

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. It's understandable to want to be able to delete those suggestions.

As it turns out, you can only turn off suggestions completely in Settings > Contacts > Siri & Search. Turn off 'Show Siri Suggestions for Contacts' and 'Show in Search.'

Delete all your old text messages. That will delete the group suggestions for those groups.

I went to settings, Safari, clear history and website data and it seemed to work.

As of right now (13.5.1) I don’t see any other way to turn it off. The only way I can get rid of it is to delete the actual group texts and then you won’t get that hundreds of suggestions. I get a lot from work where they make a group text and it’s annoying. Hopefully this helps.

I just realized tonight you can’t delete the suggested group texts from the past! Very annoying! It’s very hard to find a contact you are try to text! Please Apple fix this!!!

If u still have the old texts the suggestions stay. Delete the texts the groups go away. I don't understand why people save texts anyway fix worked for me

This is a VERY annoying feature. Every time I type in the name for a single contact I get dozens of group suggestions from all the group texts that person has been in. It’s a useless and annoying feature that makes it hard to text. Is there any way apple can fix this???

I can see no benefit as to why Apple changed the ability to easily delete the group text suggestions. It has been almost 2 months since the original posting. Why has Apple not reverted this option back to the original method? In the meanwhile, we must muddle our way through the list and hope we do not inadvertently send a text to a group that we do not wish to have receive it.

It’s ridiculous. I now have hundreds and hundreds of group text message suggestions. It’s not helpful at all because you have to actually create a message to see who is in it. It NEEDS to go back to how it was before. The group should disappear once that group message is deleted. Apple! Please fix this!

Its ******* me off that the decision making is made by apple as to what we want not letting us choose how we send our texts.

This is the worse "improvement" that they have done thus far and I started with them with a iPhone 4 and now have the X, Usually when they goof they have been timely in fixing such issues but on this one from the waiting and digging to find others who are not happy with it, it seems they don't intend to fix it. To me this is huge news of a huge error in judgement. We need to keep these post from getting too old that comments are not allowed but you can start a new post.

Now we get a drop down that shows everyone in the group and from there you can add those not in your contacts or of in your contacts allowed to delete them. I take that to mean actually delete them as one of your contacts. The drop down choice use to be where the circle with the i in the middle allowed us to instantly pick to remove the suggestion. Most we can do is notify Apple of the issue. And hope its fixed before its in the news a horror story of how this feature removed caused trouble. It is a disaster waiting to happen. Loved having the feature REMOVE from recent in messages. It made sense having it. Not having it makes no sense unless we NEVER receive suggestions in the first place. You see something to share with only a few people thinking just this one time. Then will delete the group suggestions. Now they are there waiting for you to use again or send to all accidentally. If you delete them out of your life they will haunt you in messages with their name popping up.
