Since iOS update, calls from one person default to RTT and I can't turn it off!

Calls to and from my husband for some reason do not work. The phone picks up, but he can't hear me--whether or not I'm calling him, or he's calling me.

I've also tried going to Settings/Accessibility to turn it off but RTT is already OFF. I try tapping the RTT button during the call, but it won't turn off. I can hear him, but he can't hear me. Please help ASAP.

Hello glee5,

Welcome to apple Support Communities!

I understand from your post that calls to and from your husband default to an RTT call, and he can't hear you since updating to iOS 13. I am happy to help.

Let's start by ensuing that RTT has been turned off on both devices following the steps here:

Make and receive RTT calls on your iPhone

If he is unable to hear you while on an RTT call, this could also be due to the microphone not being activated:

"The microphone in the top-right of the text conversation will be blue when the microphone is on and voice audio is active. Tap  to turn off voice audio for any RTT upgraded call. If you started a call as RTT and voice audio is off, you can tap  to activate it. "

Since the issue started after updating to iOS 13, you may want to try reinstalling iOS using iTunes on a computer. The article below will walk you through those steps:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Keep me posted on your progress.

Have a great day!
