im trying to connect my iphone 6 to mac computer to backup? mac isnt finding device. what do i need to do ??

iPhone backup to Mac I am trying to backup my iPhone SE to my Mac OS High Sierra. The instructions say to locate the phone in iTunes on the Mac. When I open iTunes and connect my iPhone by USB cable the only things that show on the left are music. I got a pop up that said I needed to download and install something for my iPhone to be found in iTunes. iPhone 13 backup to MacOS 10.13 I have an iPhone 13 running iOS 15.6.1. My iMac (27" late 2012) is still on MacOS 10.13.6. When I plug the iPhone in, the iMac does not seem to recognize it. It does not show up in iTunes, and of course 10.13 is prior to the move of the iPhone backups to Finder. How can I back my iPhone up?
